Marinara sauce is a tomato sauce, usually made with tomatoes, garlic, onions and other spices – basil, oregano, parsley, pepperoncini, capers, anchovies and more. It is a slowly cooked sauce (through simmering for about 2 hours or more), similar to bolognese sauce (ragu). This recipe is fast. The fast Marinara sauce is less aromatic but still very delicious.
My personal favorite addition to Marinara sauce is the Bulgarian white cheese. Any other cheese can be added to this sauce.
