This recipe is one of the things that bring me to my childhood – cookies, butter, nuts … Classics! Well, some cherries with alcohol too, but I don’t remember that being a problem 🙂
The cherries in here are a left over product of the preparation of Cherry Brandy – Vishnovka (the recipe for the Vishnovka you can see here). It is difficult to describe the taste, so I recommend that you prepare them. It is so easy! If you don’t have the brandy soaked cherries, it’s no problem. Just shape the dough for the sweets without them and add an alcohol you like. It will really add to the aroma. Serve it to your friends and I wpromise you will be the culinary star! 🙂
INGREDIENTS:
DIRECTIONS:
Grind the cookies into a blender and place them in a bowl.
Add the melted butter and stir.
Start adding the icing sugar, sifting it to prevent lumps.
Add the egg-yolk and stir. I used fresh home eggs and the use of raw yolk did not bother me.
Add the cocoa and sift it, too.
In a blender grind the nuts, but not quite finely. It is good to have small pieces of walnuts left to be felt in the finished drunken cherries sweets.
Add the Baileys as well. I really like the taste of Baileys and so I preferred it for this recipe. But if you do not have it, or prefer the taste of another alcohol, you can add a nice cognac or other liqueur.
Mix the mixture well.
Let's start to form drunken cherries. Take a small piece of the mixture and flatten it lightly. In the center place one of the cherries, which have soaked in the brandy for the preparation of the cherry brandy - Vishnovka (see the cherry recipe Vishnovka here). You can skip putting a cherry, but it adds to the taste of these lovely sweets.
Close the ball with the cherry in the middle, pressing lightly. The goal is not to see the cherry and to get a smooth ball from all sides. It is not difficult as the mixture is easy to handle. The size is as small as a walnut.
Roll the drunken cherries sweets in ground nuts.
The drunken cherries sweets are ready! Arrange them in a beautiful plate. Serve chilled after about 2-3 hours in the refrigerator. Bon appetit!
If I can do it, so can you!
Bon appetit!
