Delicious and typically Bulgarian! Even the absence of meat can not reduce the pleasure, which this dish brings!
Enjoy! 🙂

НАЧИН НА ПРИГОТВЯНЕ:
Cut the cabbage into small pieces. To soften it even before you put it in the casserole (and also to make it easier to stuff it in the casserole), sprinkle the cabbage with salt and smash it lightly.
Put the chopped and salted cabbage in the casserole together with the oil and garlic in small pieces.
(If your casserole is relatively small and all the cabbage does not fit in it, put the cabbage gradually.)
Put the casserole on the stove over moderate heat and soon the water in the cabbage will evaporate and it will shrink by more than 50%. Stew the cabbage for about 15 minutes.
Once the cabbage has softened, add the bay leaf, tomatoes, sugar, black pepper and allspice/pimento grains.
Add the red pepper powder.
Mix well.
Let the dish to continue simmering over a moderate heat for about 15 minutes.
In the meantime, turn the oven on to about 180 degrees. Put the electric kettle to heat water.
After about 15 minutes, transfer the cabbage to a baking tray.
Add warm water to cover the cabbage.
Put the baking pan in the preheated oven.
Periodically take the cabbage out of the oven and stir it.
Bake the cabbage for about 1 hour, until the water is evaporated and the dish gets golden brown.
Serve while still warm. I really like it with white brined cheese. Enjoy! 🙂
Щом аз мога, значи и вие можете!
Добър апетит!
