Today I am going to present you an old recipe from our mothers and grandmothers. It does not look much like modern recipes, but it brings us back to those times when women tried to create something delicious from simple products they had in the cupboard and the cellars. Here is one of them.
It was very interesting for me to find out and prepare this recipe. Personally, I would mix all the products without making them in layers. It is easier and would give better flavor to the rice. Or at least I think so;)

НАЧИН НА ПРИГОТВЯНЕ:
Prepare a baking pan approximately 20 by 25 cm in size. Grease the pan with butter or margarine.
Put the butter in a casserole.
Put the casserole on the stove until the butter melts. Add the washed rice to it.
Stir well. Fry the rice until it gets slightly transparent.
Add the water and stir the rice to keep it from sticking.
Add the salt. Boil the rice over low heat until it absorbs all the water and softens completely.
While the rice is boiling, peel the apples and grate them.
Sprinkle them with the and the cinnamon. Mix well.
In another bowl, mix the eggs with the milk and mix with a whisk.
Stir the rice periodically. Make sure that the water is not evaporated and that the rice remains uncooked. In my case, I decided to add about 1/3 cup of water at the end of the boiling and that was enough for the rice to cook well and absorb all the water. It took him about 15-20 minutes.
Once the rice is ready, pour half of it and spread it on the bottom of the baking pan.
Spread the apples with sugar and cinnamon on top of the rice, forming an even layer.
Sprinkle with about 1 handful of raisins if you want.
Spread the rest of the rice on top, leveling the surface thoroughly.
Finally pour the eggs and milk mixture.
Bake the pastry in a preheated oven at 170-180 degrees for about 30 minutes. Once it gets a golden crust on top, it's ready.
