Good morning, chefs!
Today I’m going to show you a fabrication I made with what I had in the fridge – a packet of puff pastry, leftover mashed potatoes from a previous day’s garnish, an open can of peas, 1 packet of cream cheese, an egg, smoked yellow cheese. For the arrangement of the flower I remembered one I had seen some time ago in various culinary videos. And hop – it turned out not just a flower, but a PUFF PASTRY SUNFLOWER WITH CHEESE. You break a “leaf” from the edge and dip it in the melted cheese in the middle. And once cool, it can be cut into triangles like a cake and served in individual plates. You can use any cheese you like, and in the center you can directly put a whole loaf of Brie or Camembert, which when baked will melt and give an even more wonderful taste.
It turned out delicious and beautiful! I think it’s a good idea both to welcome guests and to prepare a quick dinner!
Try it for yourself! 🙂

НАЧИН НА ПРИГОТВЯНЕ:
First prepare the first stuffing - mix the mashed potatoes, peas and corn.
I used mashed potatoes that I had left over from the side dish the day before. But you can use something else you like - for example pieces of ham or other sausage. It is important that it is not liquid.
Add the cheese of your choice.
Mix well.
Unroll the puff pastry on the desktop.
Place a large plate on top with the bottom up.
Cut a circle along the edge of the plate.
Place the circle on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Arrange the mashed potatoes as a wreath about 3 fingers away from the edge of the puff pastry.
Lift the edge of the dough and press it lightly on the inside to cover the filling.
Using a sharp knife, cut the outer roll into 16 equal pieces.
To make it easier for you, first cut into 4 pieces - where the numbers 3, 6, 9 and 12 are located on the clock. Then cut each piece into 2 and then another 2. This way you will easily get 16 identical pieces.
Take a piece and turn it clockwise, leaving the filling on top.
Press lightly to touch the neighboring pieces.
Do the same with all the other pieces.
Our sunflower is starting to grow. 🙂
It's time to prepare the second filling.
In a bowl or a deeper plate, add the cream cheese, the whole egg and the egg white. (Leave the second yolk for coating.)
Beat well with a fork until a homogeneous mixture.
Add grated yellow cheese or other soft cheese of your choice. You can also add your favourite spices.
Mix.
At the bottom of the dough in the middle put 1-2 pieces of ham. If you want, you can cut it into small pieces and add it to the top of the filling.
With the separated yolk coat the outside of the sunflower.
Pour the filling in the middle.
Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Do not throw away the remaining pieces of puff pastry. I cut them into strips, sprinkled with paprika, twisted and roasted together with the sunflower.
Place the pan with the sunflower in a preheated oven at 200 degrees with a fan and bake for about 20 minutes until you get a nice golden tan.
The inside of the sunflower does not necessarily need to have a hard crust. It is important just to bake lightly on top and stay slightly liquid in the middle.
Break off a piece from the outside and dip in the cheese in the middle.
You can also cut a piece like a cake and serve as an appetizer.
Your guests will surely be very pleased and astonished by the beautiful view of this sunflower.
And you won't tell them how little time it took you to prepare it. 😉
Enjoy! 🙂
Щом аз мога, значи и вие можете!
Добър апетит!
