There is no other word for this dessert than “bliss melting in your mouth.”
Thanks to Turkan Seven for the recipe! As soon as I saw these tempting little balls, I wanted to prepare them. And you should definitely use hazelnuts for decoration as in the original recipe! Then you will get an amazing dessert from Turkish cuisine…
Enjoy!
INGREDIENTS:
DIRECTIONS:
First you have to prepare the syrup, because when you pour the hot sweets, it must be with cold syrup. So first mix the water and sugar and place on the stove.
Stir until the sugar has melted. Add the lemon juice. Leave it on the stove over low heat until it boils for about 5-10 minutes and the syrup thickens slightly. It doesn't have to be very thick. Leave it in a cold place to cool.
In a bowl mix the icing sugar and the butter room temperature.
Stir with the mixer until soft.
Add the egg and mix again.
Add the semolina and mix gently with a spatula.
Start adding the white flour to which you have previously added and sifted the baking powder and the vanilla. Add it a little and by little mix with a spatula.
Once it has thickened sufficiently, knead on a surface covered with flour.
You don't have to knead a lot, just as long as it is put together in a soft dough.
From the dough form balls slightly larger than a walnut. Arrange them in an oiled baking pan or covered with baking paper or a Teflon pad. Flatten them slightly on top.
Put a piece of hazelnut (or walnut) on top of the sweets.
Bake in a preheated 180 degree oven for about 20-25 minutes until lightly browned.
Once removed from the oven, place them in a deeper pan so they can be covered with syrup.
In about 3-4 minutes after removing the sweets from the oven, cover them with the cold syrup. This is a must, since otherwise the required consistency of the sweets will not be obtained!
Leave the sweets (if you can protect them from the household members) for at least 1-2 hours until they completely absorb the syrup. The more they stand, the more delicious they become! Enjoy! 🙂
If I can do it, so can you!
Bon appetit!
