Stuffed bread with salami and cheese

When I saw this idea in a foreign culinary site some time ago, I was very impressed. The products are ordinary, but it is the presentation that makes this dish so great. It’s especially fun for kids or unexpected guests, for example.

And so, when there was a whole loaf of lonely bread at home and we were wondering what to do with it, and in the fridge there were traditionally different sausages and cheese (for the child’s school sandwiches), it became clear that the time of this recipe was now.

Here is our STUFFED BREAD WITH SALAMI AND CHEESE – an incredibly delicious and original recipe that will give new life to dry bread. Surprise your family members! Serve it in the middle of the table and you will see how much fun it is when everyone reaches out and pulls a piece of bread with sausage and the cheese melts in long, tasty threads.

Enjoy! 🙂

INGREDIENTS:

1 older and dry bread (bigger, homemade)
 2 tbsp. tomato paste
 100 g yellow cheese
100 g salami of your taste (ham, pepperoni, bacon or other)
3 tbsp. vegetable oil or melted butter
 1 crushed clove garlic (optional)
 2 tbsp. diced chives/scallions (optional)
1 tsp. oregano or savory (or any other spice optional)

Prep Time10 minsCook Time30 minsTotal Time40 mins

DIRECTIONS:

1

Take the bread and cut it vertically along its long and short sides, having in mind not to reach the bottom of the bread. Cubes (or rhombs) of about 2 cm in size should be obtained.

2

Using a spreading knife, spread the inside of the bread cubes with the tomato paste.

3

Cut the cheese into thin slices. You can grate it if you like. Also slice the sausage into thin slices that are suitable to fit between the bread cubes.
Place cheeses and salami between the bread cubes. Be careful when filling not to break the bread pieces.
Now the sprinkle is coming. You can only lightly sprinkle the bread with the oil or the melted butter. If you think this is enough, you don't have to add anything more. But if you love spices, you can add some crushed garlic, some chopped fresh chives/scallions, spices you wish (oregano, savory or other) to the oil or melted butter. After putting all the additives in the sprinkle mixture, carefully sprinkle the bread.

4

Put the bread in a baking pan covered with parchment paper. Then cover it with aluminum foil on top. Another baking option is to directly place the bread on the aluminum foil and then wrap it with it and place it in the baking pan.
Bake the bread in a preheated oven at about 190-200 degrees. After about 20 minutes (just enough to melt the cheese), open the aluminum foil. Bake the bread without it until it gets a nice golden tan.
