Sun-shaped bread

Let’s get busy on Labor Day! Let’s roll up our sleeves and knead 🙂

And let the sun enter our homes with this sun-shaped bread!

 2 packages dry yeast (or 1 cube of fresh yeast)
 1 cup milk
 1 tsp. sugar
 1 tsp. salt
 6 tbsp. vegetable oil
 500 g yoghurt
 1 egg
 1200 g flour
 125 g butter
 250 g white cheese
For spreading the ready to bake bread:
 1 egg
 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
 1 tbsp. milk
For sprinkle:
 poppy seeds (optional)

Put the warm milk in the bowl with the yeast. Stir well to dissolve the yeast.

Add the salt.

Add the sugar.

Add the oil.

Add 1 egg.

Add the yogurt. Mix well with the whisk until you get a smooth mixture.

Start adding flour by sifting it.

Once the ball is formed, knead the dough onto a floured top. Knead and sprinkle with flour until you get a soft and non-sticky dough. The amount of flour varies each time depending on the products - the size of the eggs, the type of yoghurt, the type of flour.

Put the kneaded dough in a bowl, cover it with a lid, a stretch film, or a soft cloth. Leave it in a warm place until it doubles its volume in about 1 hour.

Take out the dough on the worktop and roll it out with a rolling pin. If necessary, gently sprinkle with flour to prevent the dough from sticking.

Roll out the dough on a 0.5-1.0 cm thick crust. It turns out to be a fairly large crust - about 50 by 70 cm.

Grease the crust with the melted butter.

Sprinkle with the crushed cheese.

Roll the crust, starting to from the wide side.

Cut the two ends of the roll, make a rose and place it in the center of an oiled pan.

Cut the roll into 6 equal cylinders (they are not all visible in this photo).

Cut each cylinder into 3 pieces, making sure that they have triangle shapes. For this purpose, the two cuts should be in the form of the letter V, as indicated in the picture.

Arrange the triangles around the rose in the center by placing their wide side against the walls of the tray.
Allow the cake to rise for about 20 minutes.

Beat the egg with a little oil and milk.

After the cake has risen slightly, spread it with the beaten egg.

Optionally, sprinkle the bread with a little poppy seed.

Bake the bread in a preheated oven at about 170 degrees for about 45-50 minutes. Check the readiness with a wooden stick or a toothpick. If the inside is still raw and the top of the cake is already red, cover the cake with aluminum foil or a baking paper.

Remove the bread from the oven, wrap it with a towel and wait about 15-20 minutes before breaking it.
