Whole-grain bread

Bread! It should always be written with a capital B!

Not just because it fulls the throat and satiates hunger, but because it brings people and families together for an unforgettable scent of coziness and warmth!

Try this wholegrain option and I guarantee it will be a regular part on your table! Diversify standard loaf of bread by making it in another form, such as baguettes or smaller loaves.

INGREDIENTS:

 1 cup warm milk
 1 sachet dry yeast
 1 cup whole grains (oat grains also possible)
 ¼ cup warm water
 1 tsp. sugar
 2 tsp. salt
 ½ cup flour
 1 ½ cup whole-grain flour
 3 tbsp. melted butter

DIRECTIONS:

In a bowl mix the warm milk (body temperature) with the yeast, the sugar and the white flour until a relatively thick mixture is obtained.

Let the mixture rise and make a "hat", becoming almost double.

Then add all other products - the whole grains, the warm water, the salt and the melted butter. Add a little by little whole wheat flour until soft dough is obtained.

Let the dough rise for about 1 hour until it doubles in volume. Then mix again slightly, just to shape the dough and place it in a greased baking dish.

Allow to rest and rise again for another 20 minutes. If desired, you can spread it lightly with some water (as I did), but you can also do it with a broken egg mixed with a little water (or with water, oil and milk). Optionally, you can sprinkle with some more flour and then make 3-4 diagonal cuts with a sharp knife or scalpel, as seen on the photo.

Bake in preheated oven at 180-190 degrees. If necessary, cover with baking paper or aluminum foil during baking so that it does not burn and reduce the temperature to 170 degrees.

You can also make smaller loaves of bread or mini baguettes. Enjoy!
